Brandon and I met his friends Dave and Taylor for dinner one Friday night. We checked out Pil Pil as it was highly recommended by everyone. It is a Spanish wine and tapas bar, so what did we do? Got a bunch of tapas to split. I only got a few pictures of some of the gluten free ones that we ordered.
Pimientos de Padron – blistered shishito peppers with sea salt and spanish paprika
Carne Adobada – Grilled skirt steak marinated in spanish paprika served with seasoned fries glazed with spicy ketchup and aioli sauce
Bacalao al Pil Pil – Cod fish cooked with garlic, sundried tomatoes, olives, roasted peppers, onions and lemon zest, finished with Sauvignon Blanc. We also got one of the specials: Brussel sprouts with onions
Pisto de Berenjena – Grilled eggplant stuffed with roasted vegetables topped with manchego cheese
Everything was good, but nothing was great. The service was pretty good. The food came out fast, the plates were cleared when they were done and my water was always full. It was really more about the company than the food. Saying that and knowing there are a million other restaurants in Manhattan, I don’t think I’ll be going back.
